Project Overview
Entry door and storm door replacement, siding and paint
Lebanon, OR · Siding & Painting
• Removed the failing entry door and diagnosed the extent of hidden water damage • Found three sections of 2x6 rim joist completely rotted through from long-term moisture intrusion • Cut out and replaced the rotted framing with pressure-treated lumber • Reconnected and reinforced the repair using structural fasteners rated for load-bearing framing • Installed a new entry door and an Andersen storm door • Replaced the surrounding wall section with James Hardie fiber cement lap siding • Finished with two coats of Sherwin-Williams Emerald exterior paint for long-term durability
Why this matters for Lebanon-area homeowners
Rot hiding behind an entry door or under siding is one of the most common — and most overlooked — sources of structural damage in older Willamette Valley homes. What starts as a simple door replacement can uncover framing failure if water has been getting behind the siding or door trim for years. This project is a good example of why a thorough inspection during any entry door or siding replacement matters: catching rotted rim joists early prevents much larger structural repairs down the road.
